Environment

Environmental protection is the only way we can safeguard our future. We promote solutions that care for, restore and protect the environment.

As a manufacturer, Uganda Baati's first environmental duty is inside the plant — eco-efficiency, less energy and water, cleaner fuel. The Foundation's job is outside it: restoring forest cover with the National Forestry Authority, and getting Ugandans to look at their environment through the Safal Eye in the Wild.

Our goal

To promote sustainable solutions to safeguard and conserve the environment.

Our focus

  • Afforestation and reforestation with the National Forestry Authority
  • Environmental education to empower young people to conserve and protect our environment
  • Advocacy and awareness through the Safal Eye in the Wild photography competition
  • Rainwater harvesting and water-conservation solutions built into every roof we donate
  • Building the capacity of community structures in conservation and land restoration
  • Water and wildlife conservation

Eye in the wild

See the environment through a lens

Managed by the Safal Foundations, Eye in the Wild uses photography to spark conversations about wildlife, forests, water and drought — and to find sustainable answers. One element of the ecosystem inspires each year's theme.
