Environmental protection is the only way we can safeguard our future. We promote solutions that care for, restore and protect the environment.
As a manufacturer, Uganda Baati's first environmental duty is inside the plant — eco-efficiency, less energy and water, cleaner fuel. The Foundation's job is outside it: restoring forest cover with the National Forestry Authority, and getting Ugandans to look at their environment through the Safal Eye in the Wild.

Eye in the wild
Managed by the Safal Foundations, Eye in the Wild uses photography to spark conversations about wildlife, forests, water and drought — and to find sustainable answers. One element of the ecosystem inspires each year's theme.

In partnership with the National Forestry Authority, the Foundation is helping restore degraded forest cover — replanting indigenous species in gazetted reserves including Mubuku and Namatale Central Forest Reserves. Add hectares and seedling counts
A community seedling nursery raising thousands of tree seedlings for reforestation and for distribution to schools, farmers and community groups — building local capacity to green their own environment.
Training young people to turn organic and other waste into value — compost and fuel briquettes that replace charcoal and firewood — cutting waste and easing pressure on forests.
Practical training in backyard and kitchen gardening, helping households grow their own food, improve nutrition and build climate-resilient livelihoods.
