Behind every roof, every certificate and every tree is a person. Here is some of the work — and the people — behind it.
The Safal Uganda Baati Technical Training Institute opened to learners on 23 March 2026, offering pathways in automotive mechanics, building and construction, fashion and design, cosmetology and digital skills. Young learners are already turning classroom instruction into real products and a path to a livelihood.
The Foundation supported the roofing of a new classroom block at Kiwale Primary School in Buikwe District, improving conditions for pupils and teachers. It shows how working with schools and local communities turns corporate investment into lasting facilities.
Hima Cement and the Foundation partnered to train 30 out-of-school young people from Nyangole Sub-county, selected with Tororo District Local Government. Hima Cement covers key learner costs while the Foundation delivers training through SUBTTI — pooling resources to widen access to practical education.
The Foundation's skilling work combines trades such as hairdressing, construction, detergent-making and backyard gardening with financial literacy and a Youth Saving Scheme modelled on village savings and loan groups. The integrated approach helps young people turn new skills into enterprise.
A donation of computers strengthened digital learning in Tororo, complementing the Foundation's vocational training. Access to equipment lets learners practise digital tasks alongside their chosen trades and build skills for an increasingly digital economy.
The Foundation joined the 2025 Rotary Cancer Run, mobilising staff and stakeholders behind a national effort to strengthen cancer awareness and care. Proceeds from the run went towards the development of a cancer institute at Nsambya Hospital.
Uganda Baati launched the 2026 Safal Eye in the Wild Photography Competition, using visual storytelling to promote conservation. The launch brought together stakeholders including NEMA, PSFU and UMA, inviting professional, amateur and young photographers to tell stories of nature and sustainability.
In a thought-leadership contribution, the Foundation drew attention to the role of corporate responsibility in helping underserved communities overcome barriers to essential health services, arguing for sustained collaboration and practical investment over isolated interventions.
